Eight devotees killed in Uttar Pradesh
October 15th, 2010 - 11:23 am ICT by IANSLucknow, Oct 15 (IANS) Eight devotees were killed and 12 critically injured when a speeding bus rammed into a tractor-trolley in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, police said Friday.
The accident took place late Thursday in the Jagannathpur area, when the private bus collided head-on with the tractor-trolley, carrying devotees from Aligarh heading towards Kadrabad Kali Temple in Badaun.
“While three people died on the spot, five others succumbed to injuries Friday morning,” police inspector Kashmir Singh told reporters in Badaun, some 250 km from Lucknow.
“The injured are being treated at the Aligarh Medical College and the condition of most of them is serious,” he added.
The driver of the bus fled after the accident.
