Cairo, April 21 (IANS) The Egyptian authorities were Thursday contemplating shifting ex-president Hosni Mubarak to a prison cell, MENA news agency reported.

The news agency said Egypt’s General Prosecutor Abdel Maguid Mahmoud considered Thursday moving former President Hosni Mubarak to a prison.

He decided to delegate medical experts to check the conditions of Torah prison hospital’s equipment and preparations to ensure it provides all the medical requirements to transfer Mubarak to jail, Xinhua quoting MENA said.

Medical sources in Sharm el Sheikh International hospital, however, said that Mubarak’s health was unstable and it was dangerous to move him to another place.

Mubarak was hospitalised April 12 in Sharm el Sheikh after he suffered a heart attack during questioning by prosecutors. The top prosecutors ordered to detain Mubarak and his two sons for 15 days April 13.

Meanwhile, an Egyptian court ordered Thursday to remove the name of Mubarak and his wife Suzanne Thabit from all public places, buildings, squares and institutions.

The court ruling will include removing their names and photographs from subway stations, schools, streets, squares and libraries across the country.

According to the court, Prime Minister Essam Sharaf must force all concerned authorities to remove the names of Mubarak and his wife from all public facilities.

Mubarak was forced to step down Feb 11 and then moved with his family to the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh. He had to be hospitalised after he suffered a heart attack.

He was detained April 13 for 15 days on accusation of using violence against protesters during the nationwide demonstration.

Mubarak’s two sons - Alaa and Gamal - beside several Mubarak’s ministers and aides were also detained and questioned for accusations of misusing powers for their own interest.
