New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) Composer Sohail Sen, who is behind the foot-tapping numbers in forthcoming film “Ek Tha Tiger”, feels that the Indian music is in its best phase and that international collaborations are the future of the music industry.

The younger lot is bringing new ideas, says Sen. “This is the best phase for Indian music as a lot of young musicians are coming up with new ideas and a lot of experimentation is happening.”

“It is great to see that producers are also opening up to new kind of music, giving musicians more space to create something different,” added Sohail, who has got music in legacy from his father Sameer Sen, a well-known composer.

Talking about fusion and collaboration, he explained: “The blend of the East and the West is the future of the music industry because people want to listen to something different. They are enjoying such amalgamation because they are listening to world music and are well aware of the different genres.”

Sen has composed three songs “Lapataa”, “Banjaara” and “Saiyaara” for Kabir Khan directed “Ek Tha Tiger” and the songs are already chartbusters. Featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, the film, releasing Aug 15, has been shot in foreign locations like Dublin, Cuba, Bangkok and Istanbul.

While the song “Lapaata” boasts of Latin American instrumentals, sounds and rhythm, “Banjaara” has an Irish folk festive feel.

“The credit of variations in music goes to Kabir. We had many sittings together to decide on how the songs should be like. He said the songs should have a feel of the place where they have been shot,” Sen told IANS.

“We worked with Cuban musicians with live instruments, to give that authentic touch to the song,” Sen said of the song “Lapataa”, which has been shot in Cuba.

The 28-year-old, who started learning music at the age of six, began his career as composer in 2008 with “Sirf”.

Later, he composed for films like “What’s Your Raashee?”, “Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey”, “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” and most recently “From Sydney With Love”.

After “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan”, he is currently working on the music of yet another film by director Ali Abbas Zafar.
