Earthquake jolts Bangladeshi capital

Dhaka, July 27 (Xinhua) An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale Sunday jolted the Bangladeshi capital and the eastern district of Sylhet, the country’s weather office said. The quake took place at 1950 GMT, with the epicenter in Sylhet district, some 238 km northeast of the capital.

Around 25 Dhaka University students were injured when they jumped out from their dormitory during the quake. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College for treatment, ATN television channel reported.

The quake also jolted the Barguna district, some 247 km south of Dhaka.
