DTC bus runs over twins in Delhi

New Delhi, April 4 (IANS) Two brothers were Saturday crushed to death by a speeding bus of the state-run Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), police said.
Love and Manish Jain, 27-year-old twins, were going for the inauguration function of a shop at Dipali Chowk on their Yamaha bike when the accident took place near Lakshmibai College in the capital’s Ashok Vihar area, around 9.15 a.m.

The police quoting eyewitnesses said the brothers lost control of their bike in a bid to save a stray cow and were hit from behind by the speeding DTC bus, plying on route number 912 between Vishnu Garden and Parmanand Colony.

“The brothers died on the spot,” said a police officer.

The police said the bodies were handed over to their family after a post-mortem examination at the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.

The victims - who resided in Janta Flats in Ashok Vihar area - are survived by their parents and a younger brother.

The police have register a case of rash and negligent driving and detained the driver of the bus.
