Drug peddler held with Rs.20 lakh cannabis
January 6th, 2011 - 12:59 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Jan 6 (IANS) A drug peddler was arrested with cannabis worth around Rs.20 lakh in Siddharthnagar in Uttar Pradesh, police said Thursday.Mohd. Ishqul was nabbed late Wednesday from Shohratgarh town following a joint operation by special operation group (SOG) and the district police.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that he worked for a Nepal-based drugs racket,” police inspector Anoop Kumar told reporters Thursday in Siddharthnagar, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“Ishqul had clients in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. He was supposed to hand over the drugs consignment to his clients in western Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
According to the police, Ishqul was involved in the illegal trade for nearly last five years.
