Bhopal, May 20 (IANS) Released from gaol only three days ago, a drug peddler was again arrested here with one kg of brown sugar worth Rs.20 million in the international market, the police said Tuesday. On Monday night, a police team raided drug peddler Akram’s residence in Nishatpura area following a tip-off and seized a kg of brown sugar, Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad told reporters.
“Akram’s entire family was involved in the business of drug peddling. His two brothers and a sister-in-law have also been convicted under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act in the recent past. He himself was released from the Central Jail only three days ago,” said Prasad.
Akram belongs to Rajasthan’s Kota district and used to get brown sugar from there. He used to distribute it to petty dealers in Bhopal, Prasad said.
