New Delhi, May 31 (IANS) Vikram Singh, who allegedly lost control of his car killing three people in south Delhi Saturday, was finally arrested Sunday, police said.
Police said Singh, a resident of Malviya Nagar where he runs an auto repairing shop, was behind the Hyundai Verna car.

While coming down from the Chirag Delhi flyover early Saturday morning, he lost control and smashed the car into a tree before ramming it into two auto-rickshaws, killing three auto-rickshaw drivers - Kamlesh, 26, Shantanu, 35, and Subodh, 23 - on the spot.

Three others — an auto-rickshaw driver, a man out on morning walk, and a municipal sweeper - were also injured in the crash.

“Singh is the relative of the car’s owner, Jagmohan Singh Bakhad, who is away in London with his family. His medical reports are awaited and it will confirm whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol or not,” said a police officer.

Police said Vikram along with two of his relatives including a woman had gone to Greater Kailash for snacks and they were on their way back home when the accident took place.

After the accident, they managed to get out of the smashed car and fled for some distance on foot. They then hired an auto rickshaw and reached home, police said.
