Double for Rajini in motorcycle championship

Chennai, Sep 4 (IANS) Krishnan Rajini (Moto-Rev India) survived a strong challenge from Preethi Racing?s Deepak Ravikumar to achieve a double in the Group A (600cc) class in the FMSCI National Motorcycle Championship here on Sunday.

The Group D (165cc Open) race witnessed perhaps the closest competition of the day with as many as seven bikers involved in the battle for the podium.

Eventually, championship leader Shyam Shankar of Moto Rev India won less than a second ahead of P. Deva Kumar of Team Thunderbolt, followed by team-mate D.Dinesh Kumar.

However, in the second race, Dinesh Kumar came from the back to win the race ahead of A. Prabhu and Shyam Shankar.

Group D (4S, 165cc, Novice): Arjun EB 1 (11:23.597); N Abhishek (Moto Rev) 2 (11:28.662); V Abhishek (Apex Racing) 3 (11:29.595).

Group D (4S, 130cc, Novice): P Anand Raj (TVS Racing) 1 (12:05.137); Abdul Wahab (TVS Racing) 2 (12:13.439); Rajesh Thinakumar 3 (12:16.503).

Group A (Superbikes, 600cc Open): Krishnan Rajini (Moto-Rev India) 1 (14:29.911); Deepak Ravikumar (Preethi Racing) 2 (14:39.295); Rohit Giri (Preethi Racing) 3 (14:45.379).

Group D (4S, 165cc Open): D Dinesh Kumar (Moto Rev) 1 (13:11.748); A Prabhu (Moto Rev) 2 (13:12.628); Shyam Shankar (Moto-Rev) 3 (13:13.740).

Group B (4S, 165cc Open): Deepak Ravikumar 1 (11:45.561); P Devakumar (Thunderbolt) 2 (12:10.955); Harry Sylvester (TVS Racing) 3 (12:13.411).
