Doordarshan journalist robbed
December 26th, 2011 - 10:54 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Dec 26 (IANS) A journalist working with a state-owned Doordarshan news channel was kidnapped, robbed and later let off by attackers who escaped with his car in Ghaziabad, police said Monday. The car was recovered later.
Ashok Srivastava, special correspondent with Doordarshan, was robbed Sunday night in Kaushambi area.
He was going to his residence in Chander Nagar when around 10.30 p.m. he stepped out of his car near Shivalik Tower in Kaushambi to relieve himself. The robbers suddenly came to the spot and using a pistol took control of his car and took him along in the vehicle.
At Modinagar, they took out Rs.40,000 from ATMS using his cards and later dumped him on a road in Baghpat.
“We have recovered the car from near the Chandinagar Air Force Station,” said Superintendent of Police City J.K. Shahi.
