Don’t read too much into Hurriyat meeting: Pakistan
July 27th, 2011 - 5:25 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 27 (IANS) Pakistan Wednesday said “too much should not be read” into its Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar meeting the separatist Hurriyat leaders from Kashmir ahead of her meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.
Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir said at a press conference here that it was Islamabad’s “reach out” effort, keeping democratic polity in mind.
“I think we need not read more into it. Our foreign minister has said that the meeting yesterday cannot be construed in any manner, either intentionally or by design, to cast any shadow on today’s talks. It is to the contrary,” Bashir said when asked if Khar’s meeting with the Hurriyat leaders had any impact on the bilateral meeting with Krishna.
