Don’t need security: Hazare

Ralegan Siddhi (Maharashtra), Sep 4 (IANS) Anna Hazare reiterated Sunday that he did not need the the Z-category security cover provided to him by the Maharashtra government.
He, however, said he would think about it and write to state Home Minister R.R. Patil on the matter.
Hazare, who returned to his village Thursday, told reporters that freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Rajguru did not have any security.
?Why do I need any security,? he asked.
Hazare was Saturday provided Z-category security cover, comprising four armed guards and two personal security officers round the clock.
The cover, which also includes a police vehicle escort whenever he leaves his village, has been provided despite Hazare saying he does not need it.
Hazare, who was earlier accompanied two armed policemen in plain clothes, had told police that he did not want any type of security cover as it hampered his free movement among the common people.
Hazare Friday stepped into public view for the first time after his 12-day hunger strike in New Delhi for a stronger Lokpal bill.
He addressed a big rally in his village Ralegan-Siddhi which was attended by people from Ahmednagar and other parts of Maharashtra.
