Domestic help commits suicide
December 27th, 2011 - 10:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 27 (IANS) Upset over a minor dispute with her husband, a 25-year-old domestic help committed suicide Tuesday by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house in central Delhi, police said.
Monika’s body was recovered from servant quarters situated on the fourth floor of Shangli Apartment on Copernicus Marg around 1.30 p.m.
“She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead,” said an official.
Monika stayed in the apartment with her husband, Dharmender, 30, and their two-year-old daughter. Dharmender works as a sweeper.
“Monika works as a domestic help in the apartment. In the morning, her husband scolded her over not taking care of their daughter properly and went out of the house. When he returned home in the afternoon, she was found hanging,” said the official.
No suicide note was recovered, police said.
