Doctor sacked after scuffle with employee
November 13th, 2009 - 10:47 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Nov 13 (IANS) A doctor in the government hospital here was sacked after he assaulted an employee, officials said Friday.
J.S.Cheema, a junior resident doctor in the dermatology department of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), indulged in a scuffle Thursday evening with Sonu, a cleaner, after he stopped the lift in between two floors.
Sonu sustained minor injuries. Afterwards, he came with scores of other class-four employees who vandalised hospital property in the emergency ward.
“We held a meeting with both parties and police officials in the morning today (Friday) and decided to terminate the services of Cheema. Now the situation is under control,” R.S. Verma, additional director of GMCH, told IANS here Friday evening.
The class-four employees union also went on strike Friday morning but soon came back to work after they got assurance of justice from the authorities.
No case has been registered so far.
“We have not got any complaint from the GMCH regarding the rampage of workers. We have received a written complaint from Cheema. We have not registered any case as our inquiry is still on and we are recording the statements of eyewitnesses,” a police officer said.
