DMK-Congress meeting to continue Thursday
March 3rd, 2011 - 1:25 am ICT by IANSChennai, March 2 (IANS) Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK and its ally Congress Wednesday held inclusive seat-sharing discussions for the April 13 assembly elections and decided to meet again Thursday.
The decision was taken at a meeting between the Congress team led by Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is in-charge of the party’s Tamil Nadu affairs and the DMK team led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
Azad flew in Wednesday evening and went straight to the DMK’s headquarters at around 9.30 p.m. The meeting lasted for more than an hour.
The Congress team left the venue without meeting the press while Karunanidhi said the discussions would continue Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, the DMK announced another seat-sharing deal Wednesday. The party allotted seven seats to the KMK.
The DMK had earlier signed agreements with the MMK, VCK, PMK and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), allotting them one, 10, 31 and three seats respectively.
