Dipika Pallikal enters top-15 of World Squash rankings
January 3rd, 2012 - 10:12 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) Indian women’s squash player Dipika Pallikal Tuesday moved up to a career-high 15th place in the world rankings.
Pallikal, who enjoyed her best season on the Women’s Squash Association (WSA) tour by winning three titles, was ranked 27 at the start of 2011.
The most recent win of the 20-year-old came in the Crocodile Cup in Hong Kong where she beat local favourite Joey Chan.
Pallikal also reached the quarterfinals of the 2011 World Open, becoming the first Indian to do so in the squash’s premier event.
She won the first two crowns of 2011 in the United States.
Pallikal, who is coached by Australia’s five-time World Open winner Sarah Fitz-Gerald, wants to break into the top-10 by the end of 2012.
