Dikshit refuses to comment on Kalmadi’s arrest
April 25th, 2011 - 7:40 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 25 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Monday refused to comment on the arrest of Suresh Kalmadi, former chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC).
Kalmadi was arrested by the CBI Monday after he was questioned again in connection with alleged irregularities in the contracts awarded for the 2010 mega event.
Asked by reporters for her reactions, Dikshit abruptly said, “No comments”, and moved on.
Kalmadi had earlier slammed Dikshit in an interview to a television channel in which he said: ” Why are no questions being raised against the Delhi chief minister, Sheila Dikshit (who) targeted and spoke against me and said that scams were only in the OC.”
Kalmadi also hit out at M.S Gill, former sports minister, and S. Jaipal Reddy, former urban development minister, and asked the CBI to summon all three.
“All those who were involved in organizing the Games must be summoned. Why just go after the Organizing Committee,” he asked.
