New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) Loads of French lace, ribbons and ostrich feathers in designer duo Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor’s new collection create a romantic fairy tale era and they say their target is confident and sexy women.
“The garments are kind of art pieces in different textiles and motifs. The mood was modern, almost cutting edge, yet the soul belongs to the past. The essence of the garments comes from the Renaissance era,” said Delhi-based designer Arjun.
The designer has used French lace and ruffles for the collection. The silhouettes vary from corsets to miniskirts and long flowy gowns. Necklines are kept low to show off the curves. The sleeves are puffed and frilly, with lace and ribbons to give an embellished look.
“We have used a lot of drape technique along with a lot of broach placements, surface texturization, ornamentation and ostrich feathers which completes the look,” said Arjun.
The Renaissance era clothing is not complete without accessories, which have been created by jewellery designer Queenie Dhodi.
“There are belts embedded with stones and jewellery that will dominate the collection and will increase the glamour quotient of plain dresses,” said Dhodi.
What about the target buyers?
“Our collection is extremely chic and glamorous, targeting today’s woman who considers herself confident, glamorous, and sexy,” said Anjalee.
The collection is available from four flagship stores in Mumbai, Delhi, Hong Kong and Dubai.
From presenting their gowns to Mumbai’s fashionistas at the Four Seasons, to crafting a special fashion installation at The Oberoi hotel in the capital, the label has also designed for Bollywood celebrities like Minnisha Lamba, Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu and Juhi Chawla.
