Depressed mum kills kids
July 30th, 2011 - 9:33 pm ICT by IANSLondon, July 30 (IANS) A British woman suffocated her two kids to death after observing herself to have failed to be “the perfect mother”, a court heard.
Susan Talby killed her sons Joseph and Paul, aged four and two, while her husband Richard was away on a business trip, Daily Express reported Saturday.
A coroner heard that Susan, 42, suffered from severe post-natal depression, a form of clinical depression that can occur among women after childbirth. She put tremendous pressure on herself to be “perfect”.
A former children’s nurse, she was also delusional and was convinced that her sons were afflicted with a variety of illnesses. This depressed her further.
