Dengue: Most cases in Punjab, deaths in Odisha
November 25th, 2011 - 11:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 25 (IANS) Punjab reported the maximum cases of dengue this year while Odisha reported the highest number of deaths, Minister of State for Health Sudip Bandopadhyay said Friday.
According to data compiled by health ministry till Oct 31, Punjab recorded 2,016 dengue cases and five deaths. Odisha recorded 1,793 cases and 32 deaths.
Delhi recorded 757 cases of dengue and five deaths.
Other states which recorded high number of cases include Kerala (1,034), Tamil Nadu (1,624), and Goa (744).
The total number of cases this year was 10,344, less than half of last year when 28,292 cases were recorded. The total number of death due to dengue across the country this year till October end is 87, compared to 110 last year.
