Delhi woman dies of burn injuries

- New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS) A 34-year-old married woman, who suffered 95 percent burn injuries last week, died at a hospital here Thursday. Her parents allege it is a case of dowry death.The woman, Manmeet Kaur, a resident of Old Rajinder Nagar area of central Delhi, suffered burn injuries Aug 24. It is not known if Kaur had committed suicide or she caught fire in an accident.
“She battled for her life in the hospital before she succumbed Thursday afternoon,” a police officer said.
The deceased’s parents allege her husband Navinder Singh used to beat her demanding dowry. She had been married for the last 10 years.
They said Singh, who has a shop in Azadpur, was a drunkard and had suffered losses in his business.
“We are investigating the matter,” police said.
