Delhi teenager dies attempting stunt on motorbike

New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS) A teenager was killed Wednesday when he attempted stunts on his motor bike on an overpass in the national capital, the police said. The victim, Kartik, 15, was riding with his friend Harpreet, 17, on the motorcycle in the morning. At the Dwarka flyover, the two started driving rash and performing filmy stunts and lost balance before hitting a pole.

The two got injured and were taken to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where Kartik, a student of Class 10, was declared brought dead. Harpreet was discharged after treatment.

At least three people were killed in separate accidents in the national capital, the police said Wednesday.

In an accident Tuesday, the police said, a 59-year-old woman was killed when a two-wheeler hit her near National Museum in New Delhi.

“The victim, Darshan Batra, an employee of Archaeological Survey of India, was crossing the road when the accident took place. She died on the spot,” the police said. She was a resident of Janakpuri area.

The two wheeler driver, who was also injured in the accident and was in Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, managed to flee from the hospital.

In another case, a 23-year-old died after he was hit by a mini van in Sarai Rohilla area of north Delhi.

The accident took place Tuesday at around 10.45 p.m. near Gulabi Bagh area, said the police, adding the victim, Amit Gupta, a resident of Anand Parbat area, was on his motorcycle when the van hit him from behind.

“His head was completely crushed,” a police officer said.

The driver, Rustam, was arrested, the officer said.
