New Delhi, Feb 3 (IANS) Policemen will visit “each and every house” in the national capital for servant and tenant verification and also to record the number of senior citizens, Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said Tuesday.“Our intention is to visit each and every house in the capital to conduct these surveys. We will also check all cyber cafes,” Dadwal told reporters here.

“People are still not forthcoming for servant verifications. We want their cooperation to make the city more secure. These surveys would also be helpful in upgrading our records at the police stations,” he added.

Home Minister P. Chidambaram Saturday said he had advised Delhi Police to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of senior citizens and verify tenants and domestic helps.

Dadwal stressed that people should exercise self-regulation to improve traffic situation on the city roads.

“We do not have any intention to raise statistics of traffic prosecutions. We want people to practise self-regulation and cooperate with us,” Dadwal added.

The police commissioner said 15,500 motorists, 1,112 government vehicles, 64 policemen and 16 police vehicles have been fined by traffic police during an intensive drive since Feb 1. Over 1,000 government vehicles were also fined.
