Delhi Police teams looking for runaway kidnappers of woman
July 26th, 2011 - 12:20 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 25 (IANS) Five teams have been set up to nab the three men on the run, who were involved in kidnapping a 24-year-old woman in south Delhi, police said Monday. The woman was rescued within hours of her abduction Sunday night and two of her kidnappers arrested.
Police also announced a reward of Rs.5,000 for the cab driver whose call to police in time helped in the speedy rescue and arrest of two of the accused - Kartar Singh, 22, and Pramod Kumar, 22.
“The houses of all the three absconding kidnappers - Deepak, 20, Ravish Nagar, 24, and Arun 26 - are locked. We have sent our teams to Faridabad (Haryana) and will definitely nab them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma.
Police officials said all the three belonged to well-off families and have completed their Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA). Deepak is son of a Haryana Police official.
Police commended the role of cab driver Amit, who immediately informed the police after the woman was forced out of his taxi and kidnapped.
“The cab driver made a call in time that helped us to rescue the kidnapped girl. If it was ten minutes late, the culprits might have managed to enter Faridabad, that might have caused delay in rescuing the girl. He will be rewarded,” said Sharma.
The five men, who were drunk, kidnapped the woman in south Delhi near the Ghitorni Metro station and drover her way forcibly. The woman was with three other female friends in a radio taxi and was returning home to Badarpur area.
“Kartar Singh, 22, and his four friends came across the woman and her three friends at Pigeon Bar in Gurgaon’s Sahara Mall. Under the influence of alcohol, these five men approached these girls and misbehaved with them,” the official said.
“The girls called a cab to take them back to Badarpur. Their cab was intercepted by Kartar and his friends near Ghitorni Metro station, where they kidnapped the victim,” added the officer.
“On receiving the information at 3.30 a.m., police swung into action and rescued the women and nabbed two of the kidnappers while three managed to flee,” added the officer.
