Delhi Police ask banks to beef up security
September 3rd, 2009 - 10:26 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) In view of increasing incidents of robberies of people coming out of banks after withdrawing money, Delhi Police have asked bank officials to ensure installation of CCTVs and alarm systems and deploy armed security guards at all branches.
Delhi police organised a meeting with the officials and representatives of various banks here following a number of robberies and snatching of money in recent times.
“The focus of the meeting was to sensitize the bank officials regarding safety of banks and customers. They were requested to ensure installation of CCTVs and alarm systems and deploy armed security guards in all branches,” said Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal here.
Bank authorities were also requested to provide the guards handguns for “better operational maneuverability,” he added.
The police have also suggested posters and periodic announcements about do’s and dont’s for the customers.
