Delhi Metro bridge collapses, 20 injured

- New Delhi, July 12 (IANS) An underconstruction bridge of the Delhi Metro collapsed in south Delhi Sunday, injuring at least 20 people, many of them critically, an official said.
The accident took place at around 5 a.m. at the Metro construction site at Zamroodpur near Amar Colony. Many are still trapped under the debris, a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official said.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, he added.
“Rescue operations have begun and seven cranes as well as gas cutter machines have been put into use to get through the debris. Investigations are still under way and we will get details soon,” the official said.
