New Delhi, March 14 (IANS) The 16-year-old school boy, stabbed to death by a group of his friends Saturday, lost his life for complaining to the parents of one of his friends over an unpaid loan, police said Monday.

“We have held nine juveniles, six Saturday and three Sunday morning. They have been sent to the juvenile observation home after producing them before the Juvenile Justice Board,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Virender Singh Chahal.

Yash Singhal, a Class 10 student of the Cambridge School in Sriniwaspuri area, was beaten up and knifed to death in south Delhi Saturday when he was on way to his friend’s place for joint study for the upcoming CBSE examinations.

He was stabbed just about 100 metres from his house.

The boy’s father, Manmohan Gupta, owns an embroidery shop in Sadar Bazar.

“Yash had given Rs.2,500 to one of the friends in December. About a month and half back, he complained to the parents of his friend, enraging him,” said Chahal.

Chahal said the attackers were Yash’s friends in the same locality and were from two different schools.

According to the official, Yash was first reluctant when his friend called him for joint study at his home.

“Initially, he was not keen to go, but when friend insisted, he left. On the way, he was waylaid by the group. They started beating him up. During the fight, one of them allegedly stabbed him in the back and all of them fled the scene,” said Chahal.

Yash, in deep pain after the attack, called his friend on his mobile and narrated the incident.

The boy was brought to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he made a dying declaration naming the assailants, after which they were detained.

Police said none of the boys had any previous criminal background and that they all belonged to lower middle-class families.
