New Delhi, June 23 (IANS) Delhi continued to be baked Saturday in the hot weather of the past few days with the maximum temperature settling five notches above average at 42 degrees Celsius. The Met Office has forecast rains towards the night or Sunday.

That forecast has sprouted among the Delhiites some hope of an immediate relief from the scorching June heat, but welcome monsoon showers seem to be still distant.

The day’s minimum temperature too was four notches above average at 31.4 degrees Celsius while the humidity levels wavered between a high of 66 and a low of 27 percent.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), skies will be partly cloudy Sunday and there is a possibility of rains in some parts of the city.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 42 and 32 degrees Celsius.

Friday’s maximum and minimum temperatures too were recorded five notches above the season’s average at 43 and 32 degrees Celsius respectively.
