Delhi government to take on private hospitals

New Delhi, July 6 (IANS) The Delhi government has decided to issue notices to private hospitals which do not provide free treatment to the poor despite being allotted land on concessional rates.

Delhi Health Minister A.K. Walia told a meeting of officials that the earmarked free beds had been found vacant in some of the hospitals, indicating that poor patients were being denied admission.

The notices are to be sent to B.L. Kapoor Hospital, Max Hospital Saket, Escorts Heart Institute Okhla, Dharamshila Cancer Hospital, Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj, Primus Super Specialty Hospital Chanakyapuri, PSRI Sheikh Sarai and Rockland Hospital Qutab Institutional Area.

Walia also said that if their reply was not satisfactory, their registration would be suspended.
