Delhi cop transferred for refusing to file complaint
January 16th, 2011 - 8:53 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 16 (IANS) Squabbling over the jurisdiction of a robbery case proved costly for a station house officer (SHO), who was Sunday transferred to the police lines.Kailash Kukreti, SHO of Kirti Nagar police station in west Delhi, refused to register a robbery complaint, saying the area did not fall under the station’s jurisdiction.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) V. Renganathan Sunday said: “Leave this, he has also had failed to solve two house robbery cases before this incident. He has been shifted because of dereliction of duty.”
Four bike-borne robbers intercepted Vikas Khanna, 41, a plywood trader, in Kirti Nagar Saturday at around 11 a.m. The men snatched a bag containing Rs.15 lakhs at gunpoint and fled from the spot.
Khanna was on his way to deposit the amount in the D-Block branch of Indian Overseas Bank.
The Kirti Nagar police station refused to lodge a complaint citing that the area did not fall under its jurisdiction. However, the case was finally registered after a lot of hassle and repeated attempts.
Earlier this month, Delhi Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta said that harsh action will be taken against policemen found squabbling over jurisdiction rather than attending to cases.
