Delhi constable dies in accidental firing
July 2nd, 2010 - 6:00 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 2 (IANS) A Delhi Police constable died here Friday after another policeman accidentally shot him while getting a service revolver checked, an official said.
The incident took place at 11 a.m. when D.P. Ilya was checking the arms and ammunition at the Connaught Place police station in central Delhi.
“Ilya was accidentally shot by another constable Mohit who went to him with his service revolver to get it checked,” a police officer said.
Ilya, 49 years old and a native of Kerala, was working in the armoral team of the Delhi Police.
