Delhi city bus catches fire, driver injured
May 21st, 2010 - 7:25 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 21 (IANS) A driver was injured Friday when a state-run Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus caught fire at Rohini bus depot here, officials said.
Jaipal, 52, tried to douse the fire and suffered burn injuries on his hand, face and hair, a police officer told IANS.
The fire broke out in the engine when the driver was returning the bus after filling Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)shortly after midnight.
Jaipal was rushed to a local hospital. He was discharged after treatment for the burns.
“We got to know about the incident at 12.05 a.m. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot,” a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said.
