Delhi blast: NIA seeks inputs from foreign agencies

New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS) The National Investigative Agency (NIA) has sought assistance from the US and other foreign countries for clues on the Sep 7 blast outside Delhi High Court, official sources said Sunday.
The agency has sought the help under bilateral and international pacts for cooperation in counter-terrorism, the sources told IANS.
The NIA has sought information on the foreign intelligence agencies’ monitoring of wireless messages regarding the blast, which killed 13 people and injured around 90 others.
It has also consulted foreign agencies about the different e-mails claiming responsibility for the blast, they added.
Home Minister P. Chidambaram Friday had said that the government was in touch with foreign inelligence agencies regarding the blast case.
He said that “as far as investigations are concerned, there are promising leads but I can’t yet call them very conclusive leads”.
The information relating to recent signal intelligence, communication intercepts, movement of key terrorists and their front men were sought from the foreign agencies, souces said.
According to the sources, investigators believe even if the blast might have been carried by Indian outfits, there was a certain guidance and support from the foreign elements - both in the Delhi blast and the 13/7 Mumbai serial blasts.
They feel that Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Bangladesh-based oufit Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami (HuJI) were possible collaborators with Indian terroor operatives.
