October 11th, 2011 - 2:47 pm ICT by IANS New Delhi, Oct 11 (IANS) India’s premier defence research agency
will exhibit 35 technologies from its laboratories at the two-day India-Africa business meet in Hyderabad from Wednesday.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will present these technologies from the food, life sciences and environment-related sectors, apart from high-end engineering applications for ensuring food security, fighting pandemics, handling climate change, disaster management, and counter-terrorism.
DRDO will present the technologies to African business houses and offer to assist them in promoting and commercialising the products in the civilian market in their respective nations.
The business summit would bring together ministers, chief executive officers, managing directors, heads of department of various corporations, and independent consultants to share and showcase business opportunities for Indian and African markets, a DRDO release said Tuesday.
In this context, the DRDO referred to its partnership with trade body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in promoting its technologies as commercial products for the civilian market nationally.
DRDO and FICCI have been working on this collaboration for the last three years and it has succeeded in launched mosquito creams and wipes, and explosives detection kit in the civilian market in India.
