Noida, May 10 (IANS) Relatives of a patient who died in a hospital in Noida went on the rampage Saturday even as they complained to police that doctors’ negligence led to the death. In a written complaint to Noida’s sector 58 police, the family members alleged that the Fortis Hospital management had not allowed them to meet the patient, Shailendra Agarwal of Gulaothi in Bulandshahr, for three days and he had been declared dead on the fourth day.
Shailendra was admitted to the hospital April 28 with neurological ailments. According to the complaint, the doctors conducted an operation on him April 30 and billed Rs.135,000 but three days later asked the relatives to deposit further Rs.265,000 to perform a second operation.
After the second surgery Thursday, the doctors did not allow the relatives to meet the patient but they said Thursday that he had died.
The family members alleged the patient had died on the operation table three days earlier, but the death was announced three days later only to overcharge them.
The hospital management was not immediately available for comments.
