DDA scam accused sent to jail
January 17th, 2009 - 9:01 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 17 (IANS) A city court Saturday sent to jail Raju Ram, a property dealer arrested for his alleged role in the controversial Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flat allotment scam. Raju Ram was arrested by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police from Dwarka locality in Southwest Delhi on the disclosure statement of Deepak Kumar, a law graduate and another accused.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Digvinay Singh sent Raju Ram to jail for 14 days.
The police informed the court that money given by Raju Ram to Deepak Kumar, an accused, was taken on loan and he claimed to be a victim of this conspiracy.
M.L. Gautam, a former DDA employee who has been arrested, had told the police 10 more people were involved in fudging applications and manipulating allotments of housing flats in the capital.
