New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) An aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and two other sharpshooters who were here to commit a murder have been nabbed by the police.

“Mahesh, 25, the kingpin and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s sharpshooters, Vipin, 28, and Rakesh, 30, were held Friday evening from Bali Nagar near Rajdhani College in west Delhi after a tip-off that they were to kill someone,” Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan told reporters.

A resident of Moradabad district in Uttar Pradesh, Mahesh recently went to Mumbai to meet the associates of D-company, he said.

“He was given some money and assured of a target in Delhi and was waiting for the order,” Renganathan said.

Police said all the three have been arrested under the Gangster Act.

During interrogation, Mahesh told the police that he was inspired by Dawood.

“Mahesh was only 16 when he murdered a gangster, Naresh Trikania, at the instance of Uttar Pradesh politician Chet Ram and a sharp shooter Ajay Pal in 2002,” Renganathan said. He was in jail for two years then.

After coming out of jail, he formed his own gang along with jail mates Vipin and Rakesh. In 2009, they committed robberies in Uttar Pradesh and killed a man in Haridwar in Uttarakhand after being paid Rs.1.5 lakh by his brother.

Vipin lives in Delhi and was earlier in jail for committing a robbery. He had also committed a murder, police said. Rakesh is involved in 20 cases of heinous crimes.

Three country-made pistol, eight live cartridges and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from them.
