Dabur juice-laden truck used to smuggle hashish from Nepal: report

Kathmandu, Oct 14 (IANS) The Nepal police Tuesday arrested two Indians near the India-Nepal border while trying to smuggle out hashish hidden between cartons of fruit juice manufactured by Dabur Nepal, wholly owned subsidiary of Indian ayurvedic giant Dabur India, a TV report said.Hari Singh, the driver of the truck that had Indian registration plates, and owner Satya Pal Singh were arrested in Birgunj town in Parsa district, Nepal’s official television agency Nepal TV said quoting police officials.

The truck was headed for New Delhi. Searches revealed the contraband concealed between cartons of Dabur’s Real brand of fruit juices.

Dabur Nepal’s factory is located in Rampur village in Parsa district.

The state news agency said the men had confessed to smuggling out the handmade hashish from Nepal to India earlier too.

Dabur Nepal authorities could not be contacted immediately for comments.
