Cyclonic storm kills nine people in Bihar
May 21st, 2011 - 10:47 pm ICT by IANSPatna, May 21 (IANS) A powerful cyclonic storm with high velocity winds and heavy rain hit Bihar Saturday, killing at least nine people, destroying property worth crores of rupees and rendering hundreds homeless, an official said.
An official of state disaster management department here said that two people were reportedly killed in Patna, three in Bhagalpur and one each in Vaishali, Samastipur, Gaya and Jehanabad districts.
According to the official, the storm badly hit normal life with trees uprooted, electricity wires snapped and hoardings and roofs of houses blown away. The heavy rain caused waterlogging at several places in Patna and other cities.
