New Delhi, March 8 (IANS) A day after being arrested by the CBI in the Commonwealth Games (CGW) overlays scam, director of the India operations of a Swiss company Sandeep Wadhwa was Tuesday sent to the probe agency’s custody till March 11 by a Delhi court.

Special judge O.P. Saini sent Wadhwa to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody after the probe agency’s plea to quiz him.

“I am satisfied that custodial interrogation of the accused is required, therefore, he is remanded to police (CBI) custody till March 11,” Saini said.

“I find that there is incriminating material on record to the effect that installments of bribe were paid by Wadhwa to the officials of the OC (Organising Committee of CWG),” Saini said.

Wadhwa is the managing director of Comfort Net Traders India Pvt. Ltd, a part of Switzerland-based Nussli India Consortium.

Nussli India was given a contract of nearly Rs.140 crore for supplying tents, portable cabins, containers and other items for six Games venues.

The company also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian unit of a Canadian company to supply steel-based modular fittings for six CWG venues, the CBI said.
