CRPF trooper kills colleague in Chhattisgarh
March 1st, 2011 - 9:08 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, March 1 (IANS) Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers fired at each other after an argument in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-affected Bastar region Tuesday. One trooper was killed on the spot while the other is battling for his life, police said.The incident was reported from the CRPF camp in Keshkal valley, some 180 km south of here.
Brijanand Dev Verma, who belongs to Tripura, and Gajanand Bhalekar, from Maharashtra clashed on a minor issue and fired at each other using their service revolvers.
Verma died on the spot, while Bhalekar, who received bullet injuries in his abdomen, was airlifted to Raipur for treatment, Inspector General of Police (Bastar) T.J. Longkumer told IANS.
Both the troopers belonged to the 188th battalion of the CRPF. They were earlier posted in Arunachal Pradesh, where they reportedly did not go along well.
