CRPF trooper killed in Kashmir grenade attack (Lead)
March 14th, 2010 - 8:43 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Srinagar, March 14 (IANS) A paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper died of his injuries in a separatist guerrilla grenade attack here Sunday. Three other troopers were injured in the attack.
Suspected separatist guerrillas lobbed a hand grenade at a CRPF vehicle parked outside the local police station in Zaina Kadal area of old city, police here said.
“The grenade exploded inside the vehicle, injuring four jawans of the 28th Battalion of the CRPF. The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Head constable Manoj Kumar succumbed to his injuries,” a senior police official told IANS.
The area was cordoned off by the local police and the CRPF and searches were being conducted, the police official said. No militant group has claimed the responsibility for the attack yet, he added.
