- Lucknow, Sep 29 (IANS) A crocodile killed a girl and mauled three others in Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti district, a forest official said Monday.”According to eyewitnesses, the crocodile pulled away a seven-year-old girl Rubeena while she was standing near the edge of Rapti river in Shravasti,” divisional forest officer P.K. Singh told IANS.
He said the crocodile also attacked three people who went to rescue Rubeena.
The incident, which took place Sunday evening in Sonwa village of Shravasti, over 200 km from Lucknow, has come as a surprise for the forest officials as crocodiles are usually not found in the river.
“There can be a possibility that the crocodile was swept away by the flood waters released from Nepal,” Singh added.
