Criminal lynched in Uttar Pradesh
April 18th, 2010 - 12:13 am ICT by IANSLucknow, April 17 (IANS) A criminal was lynched in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district after he was caught sneaking into a commercial establishment with the intention of looting it, police said Saturday.
Aslam (32), who had nearly 12 criminal cases of attempt-to-murder, abduction, loot and other crimes against him was Saturday morning beaten to death by the residents of the Civil Lines Area in Moradabad, some 250-km from Lucknow.
“Locals repeatedly assaulted Aslam with iron rods and wooden sticks, following which he died on the spot,” police inspector M.S. Bharti told reporters in Moradabad.
A case has been registered against nine unidentified people for killing Aslam.
“Though Aslam was a criminal, action would be taken against all those who took the law into their hands and killed him. We have initiated an enquiry into the case and will soon arrest those who lynched Aslam,” Bharti added.
