Criminal lynched in Uttar Pradesh
September 9th, 2011 - 8:55 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Sep 9 (IANS) A criminal was lynched by a mob in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district after being caught sneaking into a house, police said Friday.
Sanjay Pal, 34, who had nearly seven cases of attempt-to-murder, abduction and robbery against him, was Thursday beaten to death by the locals in Jahangirabad town, some 400 km from Lucknow.
“When villagers tried to catch Sanjay, he opened fire in the air. Thereafter, the locals turned violent and started assaulting him with wooden sticks and iron rods that subsequently led to his death,” police inspector Anil Kumar said.
Police have registered a case against 20 people in connection with the killing.
