CPI-M supporter killed
July 8th, 2010 - 9:56 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, July 8 (IANS) A Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) supporter was killed by suspected Maoists at Salboni in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Thursday, police said.
Lankeshwar Mahato (60), a resident of Lakhanpur village, was dragged out of his house by eight men Thursday afternoon and later shot dead.
West Midnapore Police Superintendent Manoj Verma said: “Mahato was killed by suspected Maoists.”
Maoists are active in West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura districts.
