August 5th, 2011 - 6:09 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Aug 5 (IANS) Top leaders of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) met here Friday to discuss the future following its electoral rout in West Bengal and defeat in Kerala.
Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, who led the party to the rout in May ending 34 years of Left Front rule in West Bengal, attended the politburo meeting — for the first time after the government’s ouster.
CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat and other politburo members, except Kerala unit chief P. Vijayan, were also in attendance. The party’s central committee will meet Aug 6-7.
Bhattacharya had skipped all politburo and central committee sessions after the April-May polls.
Price rise, the government’s new land acquisition bill and the Lokpal bill be discussed in the meetings.
