Court summons Taj hotel officials for poor quality food items
November 22nd, 2010 - 11:19 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Nov 22 (IANS) A local court here Monday issued summons to the managing director, director and chief beverage officer of five-star Taj hotel here for violating guidelines of the Chandigarh health department.
In a surprise raid Sep 8, the health department collected four samples from the hotel. During the tests, samples of curd and sauces tested negative and were found inferior in quality.
Taking cognizance of the test report, Chief Judicial Magistrate Jasbir Singh Sidhu summoned the Taj officials and told them to file their replies.
The court directed them to submit their reply in case of sauces by Jan 12 and in case of curd by Jan 25.
The raid was jointly conducted by senior officials of Chandigarh health department and excise and taxation department. The hotel authorities were also levied two fines for violating various norms.
