Court seeks presence of five Delhi blast suspects

New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS) A city court Monday asked the police to produce before it five arrested suspects of the Delhi serial blasts who have been taken to Gujarat for their alleged role in the Ahmedabad terror attacks.Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Bansal sought the presence of the five — Mohammed Saif, Zeeshan Ahmad, Mohammed Shakeel, Zia-ur-Rehman and Saquib Nissar — before the court Nov 24 after the Delhi Police Special Cell submitted that all of them were presently in Gujarat.

The suspected have been named in the serial blasts at Karol Bagh, Connaught Place and Greater Kailash (Part I) Sep 13 that claimed 26 lives and injured over 124.

The Gujarat police had Oct 27 secured their custody claiming their involvement in the synchronised blasts in Ahmedabad.

They claimed that the five suspects were amongst those who had planted the bombs in the Ahmedabad city July 26 that left 56 people dead.

Saif was arrested following the Batla House encounter in Jamia Nagar in south Delhi Sep 19 while Zeeshan was arrested on the same evening from Jhandewalan area in central Delhi where he had gone to give an interview to a private TV channel.

The other three accused — Shakeel, Zia-ur-Rehman and Saquib — were arrested from Shaheen Bagh Sep 20.

All the accused have been booked under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
