Court questions woman, police on complaint against brothers

This question was Thursday put before police and a woman by the Delhi High Court.Shaheen Khan, 35, a resident of Mayur Vihar in east Delhi, has moved a Delhi court seeking prosecution of her three brothers under the law. Her brothers live in separate houses.
The high court Thursday asked police and Shaheen to respond to the question on the law after her brothers challenged her complaint against them.
Justice Ajit Bharihoke sought replies from police and Shaheen by May 20.
Her three brothers Sayed Raza Ali Khan, Syed Ata Ali Khan and Syed Jaffar Ali Khan raised the question in their joint plea for quashing of their sister’s complaint in a Delhi court.
The three brothers, in their petition in the high court, pointed out that their unmarried sister has been staying with their mother separately at their Mayur Vihar home while the three of them have been living elsewhere in rented accommodations.
The brothers also alleged their sister had been putting pressure on their mother to transfer the ownership of the Mayur Vihar house to her.
The brothers also attached an affidavit filed by their mother saying that she had been resisting Shaheen’s pressure to transfer the ownership of the east Delhi house to her.
Shaheen’s brothers alleged she stole some property papers from their mother’s custody and started blackmailing her.
“Shaheen, meanwhile, has also filed a complaint before a metropolitan magistrate seeking an interim relief of Rs.20 lakh from them,” her brothers said in their petition.
